About Elyssa Llanso
Elyssa Llanso was born in 1997 in Miami, Florida to Cuban and African American parents. For the majority of her life, she was raised by her single black mother and grandmother. This significantly influenced her perspective on life and her work. Her pieces depict people of color, typically women, and the hardships that come along with identity and race. She often does this through a self-reflexive lens. She has experience with a variety of mediums. She works predominately in drawing and painting and specializes in vivid watercolor and acrylic portraits. She has recently completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Florida International University. She plans to continue practicing and learning, and intends to work towards her a Master of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting.
